How To Reduce Stress/Anxiety

Timeout! I assume you are reading this post because you suffer from stress/anxiety- right? I'm no doctor, but I'm here to tell you what currently works for me. When stress/anxiety pop up it's hard to calm your mind, but that's exactly what you need to do! Most of the things I recommend focus on self-care and giving yourself a break.

AVOID:

Caffeine & Alcohol. Caffeine heightens my anxiety and usually pushes me to the edge of a panic attack. My mind races a million thoughts a minute, which is NOT good. A few weeks ago I didn't leave my house for two days because of some matcha I drank. Boy, I love that stuff but it does not help my mind!

- Social Media. We've all been sucked down this rabbit hole right? This is a time to concentrate on yourself, not others. (If any account gives you negative vibes, press that unfollow button!)

- That Friend. We all have that one friend who can't stop talking about themselves. This friend always finds herself in some type of drama. We love them unconditionally but this would be a great time to take some space. Seriously...

THINGS TO DO:

- Work It Out Girl. Getting to the gym is always the hardest part, but I'm always so happy once completed. The amount of endorphins I get during a class really helps my mental health. Also it's great for that body of yours! Spin classes are my favorite because instead of being in my head, I'm concentrating on the music and the moves. If you are ever in San Francisco do yourself a favor and head to Uforia. My favorite teacher is Drea, she has the BEST music and energy.

- Write. I have a journal next to my bed where I write down how I feel. Getting out all those emotions and negative thoughts is a way for me to move on. I always feel like a weight has been lifted from me and I can breathe again. I never reread what I write. This is only to get out that bad energy and for it to stay on that piece of paper.

- Mediate.  I'm not the best at this but it has worked wonders for a lot of people. I would say I'm a beginner to the meditation world. Clearing your mind and giving it a break is truly needed sometimes. I downloaded the app Headspace on my phone and it has been great! There are so many great sessions on this app I can't recommend it enough! Once you have gone through the meditation sessions I would check out "Managing Anxiety".

- Read. This might not be for everyone but it gives you a chance to escape your world and go into someone else's. I love fantasy books like Ready Player One and Game of Thrones. But also reading self-help books tends to make me more positive in a time of need-especially The Secret.

THINGS I WANT TO TRY:

- SuperYou Moon Juice Pill. They literally have a cult following! So many great reviews but I wonder if it's a placebo effect or the real thing. This pill is supposed to address the effects of stress on the mind and body. All the ingredients are pretty natural. If anyone has tried it please let me know! You guys can take a look at it here.

- Acupuncture. I'm not a fan of needles so this may never happen. But according to the web, "Acupuncture points can help energy flow smoothly, and alleviate not only the symptoms of stress and anxiety, but the stress and anxiety itself." There have been a lot of reports that it does in fact work.

Your mental health is so important! Take care of yourself!

(I'm such a nerd lol)
